If you can’t find your desired colour in our standard range, our colour matching service can help. Please email colour@emperorpaint.co.uk before placing your order in order to avoid delays to your order and allow us to check we can achieve your chosen colour.
No more compromise
While we have 18 beautiful colours in our standard colour range, we know that sometimes you have that perfect colour in mind. Our colour matching service allows you to get our paint mixed in the perfect bespoke colour for your project.
Just let us know the brand and colour name, and we’ll create a custom colour for you. Whilst we can match most colours from big brands, we cannot mix darker shades. This is because the amount of colourant required to create these colours would dilute the quality of our paint. Due to this, we can only mix light and pastel shades.
How it works
- Visit our Emperor Masonry Paint product page, select your size and click on the colour wheel
- Enter the brand and the name of the colour you like
- Add your colour matched paint to your basket and proceed to checkout.
- Once we receive your order our colour matching experts will create a custom colour just for you. If they aren’t able to achieve your requested colour, they are always on hand to provide the closest possible alternatives.

Important information
Our formulas are created in lab conditions and matched to colour charts for consistency. Our colour matched equivalent colours will be within a 10% variance of the colour you request. Please bear in mind that this is a colour match and not an exact copy.
Colours are matched under D65 artificial daylight meaning different lighting can change how a colour appears. We also recommend selecting a colour based off an official colour card sourced from the paint manufacturer directly. Computer screens and colour charts available in DIY stores can often be inaccurate representations of the colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which colours can’t you match?
Our paint is designed to be the highest possible quality masonry paint available thanks to not only the quality of our resins and ingredients but the amount of these high-quality ingredients. By adding too much colourant to our paint, we risk diluting the quality of the paint. Due to this, we can only colour match light and pastel colours.
This means the vast majority of popular masonry paint colours are available. The colours we aren’t able to achieve are deep and dark shades, which includes black and dark grey. I haven’t ordered enough paint and now I need more. If I order more, will the shades still match?
If you are re-ordering the same colour again there are a few things you can do to help make sure you limit any variances. Firstly, if you are reordering paint, get in touch with us first to tell us your order number and when you ordered your last colour match. That way, we can check our internal records to check which colour this was and which machine we used to mix it.
Unfortunately due to the nature of mixing paint, colours can sometimes vary. In fact, this can even happen with any paint in standard colours or bespoke mixed colours. That’s why we always suggest ordering slightly more rather than slightly less to avoid any shade discrepancies. When painting, it is recommended to mix the paint you are planning to apply together first before applying it, to help prevent any colour variance. We also recommend ordering your paint within a short time-frame, as this helps minimise risk of colour variance.
Can I return colour matched paint?
As we create bespoke colour matches just for you, we aren’t able to offer returns on colour matched paint.
What if my colour match isn’t exactly as I expected, what I can do next?
All colour matched paint is mixed to order and as such, is not eligible for an exchange or refund if the colour isn’t what you’d hoped. If your colour isn’t what you expected, we recommend getting in touch with our customer service team who are on hand to assist you.
What can I do to give you all the information you need to match my colour?
In most cases we simply need the brand and the name of the colour. It is also helpful for us if you include the colour code where possible, as this helps us verify this is the correct colour. Some brands have multiple colours under the same name. eg. An Australian version and a UK version, so the more information you give us the better. If we need more information, our colour matching experts will be in touch.
Is colour match paint available on next working day delivery?
Due to the time involved in our colour matching experts mixing your bespoke colour and ensuring its accuracy, delays can sometimes occur. While we aim to dispatch all orders placed before 12pm on the same day on a next working day delivery service, sometimes we need extra time to get your order right. This means we can’t guarantee next working day delivery on colour match paint. We recommend giving added time to prevent any delays to your project.

Can I cancel or amend my order?
To cancel your order please contact us as soon as possible by calling 01254 936121. If your order has not been sent to our warehouse to be processed we can cancel or amend the order. If the order has begun processing in our warehouse we cannot amend or cancel the order at this stage and your order will be processed.
What happens if there is a problem with my colour?
Our colour matching experts inspect all colour mixing before we dispatch goods to ensure they are within a 10% variance of the colour you request. We will not dispatch paint if we are not satisfied with the colour. We reserve the right to decide if a colour match is accurate and have records of each order that we have mixed in order to verify whether the colour is an accurate match.
